The Oak and Vine Restaurant at Springside in Auburn, NY is a must-visit if you are in this area of the Finger Lakes. Stepping into the adorable restaurant was the best way to unplug from a day of long travels.
The grounds were beautiful and lush and the dining area was cozy and inviting, but we were here for the food of course!
We started off our delightful evening with the Chef’s Choice Combo Board. I am a huge fan of letting chefs do what they do best. They know which ingredients are freshest and when you let a chef have free reign to play in the kitchen you get something that looks like this amazing combo board.
Kenin ordered this gorgeous wedge salad. I am a sucker for wedge salads so needless to say he was forced to share.
He chose to wash down his salad with a local New York beer. Oak and Vine has a wide selection of beers on tap as well as a slew of amazing cocktails. Their staff is incredibly knowledgable and very willing to steer you in the right direction if you are having a decision dilemma. They also had a great selection of hard ciders from 1911 Spirits if craft beer doesn’t strike your fancy.
Moving on to the main event, I ordered these giant scallops (the day’s special) on a kale salad for my entree. The scallops were huge and perfectly cooked.
Going seafood all the way, Kenin chose the swordfish. It was served over a sun-dried tomato and olive pasta. I am pretty sure I won the entree wars, but his fish was a delicious runner up.
Oak and Vine also has a selection of divine looking desserts, but we were on a time crunch and had to scoot before I could indulge in one…next time though, I’m starting with dessert!
The combination of relaxed atmosphere, excellent cuisine, and an extensive beer and wine list, makes Oak and Vine a great selection whether you are looking for a casual dining experience for a group or a nice romantic getaway.
