They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but how would we be able to rave about the city’s shows, casinos and nightclubs if we obeyed that rule? After all it’s called Sin City, so why can’t we commit the ultimate sin and tell you exactly what’s happening in Vegas? Because there’s an awful lot.
Once famed for its crooners, the strip has converted into a party capital with world famous DJs headlining the super-clubs of the Bellagio and Planet Hollywood. And of course that’s not to mention the huge casino floors and shows that are plastered across town in neon lights.
We take a look at the best things happening if you stay in Vegas.
See a Show
World-renowned for its shows, the Las Vegas strip offers legendary acts from Elton John, to Penn & Teller, to the Beatles Cirque du Soleil every night in what is often a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Cirque du Soleil is a must, and with eight offerings running right down Las Vegas Boulevard, it’s impossible not to find something for you.
The Beatles LOVE at the Mirage is perhaps the most interesting. The brainchild of the late, great George Harrison and CEO of Cirque Guy Laliberte, the show samples 120 songs to create 27 stunning pieces of music as a soundtrack to the mesmerizing acrobatics performed by the cast, while infusing the show with everything the Fab Four stood for.
Visit a Huge Club
A far cry from the sounds of the Beatles, however, are the nightclubs of Vegas. You’ll often find the likes of Calvin Harris, Tiesto, and deadmau5, spinning records into the early hours in Las Vegas’ biggest clubs.
Hakkasan at the MGM Grand covers 80,000 square feet and in 2015 will see Steve Aoki, Tiesto, and Calvin Harris getting crowds jumping, while the restaurant is headed up by Michelin-starred chef Ho Chee Boon.
And super-clubs stretch right down the strip. In the week you’re likely to pay around $30 to make your way into nightspots, and it’s well worth it with the party rocking every night from Monday right into Friday night. Just don’t drink so much you end up in one of the chapels with a lovely, yet complete stranger.
A night on the Casinos
But of course the casino floor is where the most thrilling action happens. Whether it be the New York New York or the Wynn, the action never stops – although it’s worth getting some practice before taking on the house.
Testing your skills online will help you learn the lingo, the rules, and the format, making sure whatever does happen in Vegas, you don’t look like a fool.
The Cosmopolitan and Aria are great for poker, while if you’ve been online figuring out your roulette odds, the Mirage is one of the few casinos with a single-zero game on the main floor.
Helicopter Ride
While in Vegas, you’ll constantly see helicopters circling above. And there’s good reason, as it’s a truly stunning sight from the air. Throughout the day, the backdrop of the mountains looks phenomenal, and as the sun goes down and the neon lights begin to glow, Vegas becomes an entirely different animal.
It’s the chance to experience the dancing fountains of the Bellagio from a completely new angle and you almost feel inclined to wave back at Vegas Vic as you pass over Downtown.
Taking in all the sights, it’s a look at Sin City as you’d never imagine, and with a glass of champagne on board, it’s the perfect time to toast an incredible place.
Eat To Excess
If there’s one word Las Vegas is synonymous with, it’s excess. From the casino floors, to the nightclubs, to the street entertainers that clutter every street corner, it’s the city where enough is never enough.
This most certainly applies to food. From the copious amounts of buffets to the gourmet restaurants such as Gordon Ramsey’s steakhouse in Paris and Spago at Caesars, one of Wolfgang Puck’s many restaurants along the strip.
There really is something for everyone when it comes to food. We Loved Hash House A Go Go but the strip’s restaurants themselves are like a delectable menu just waiting to be chosen from.
