New York City is one of our favorite places. Flashy lights, skyscrapers that seem to touch the heavens, hustle and bustle that makes the city feel so alive, all of it just gets under our skin and feel full of life. We aren’t the only ones that feel this way about the Big Apple. Movie makers have been featuring this glamourous city in films for decades. Here are a few of our favorite spots that make up our Ultimate New York movie guide.
New York City is known for being a movie mecca. There are so many films and TV shows that are made here every year and so many that portray different parts of the city in different ways. This skating rink at the base of Rockefeller Center has been in many movies. Elf (one of my favorite movies of all time) and Home Alone 2 feature this gorgeous site and it’s well worth the visit.
Also take a trip up to the Top of the Rock where you can get a fantastic view of the Empire State Building (featured at the top of the post) and see where shows like 30 Rock are filmed.
This is Times Square. From Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise to Midnight Cowboy with Dustin Hoffman, Times Square has been an iconic part of film history. It’s also one of my favorite spots in the city at night. Something about all those neon lights just makes me giddy.
My favorite though has to be the FAO Shwartz toy store. This is the last remaining FAO Shwartz toy store since they were bought out by Toys R Us, but it is a must-see. All of the toys seem larger than life which is probably why they filmed scenes from the movie Big with Tom Hanks here. You feel like a kid again just walking into this place.
New York City is definitely a city of wonders. It’s a city that is full of life and magic. When considering your next trip, make sure to keep this city in mind. There is so much to see and do here in the Big Apple.
