Today we are embarking on our next Epic Road trip. On our last journey, we were two wandering souls who had just quit our jobs and went seeking a new life. As we leave this morning on our next trip, we head out with a different mind-set and a different mission. We are going on a grand adventure and driving from Key West, Florida to Dead Horse, Alaska. We planned a loose itinerary and aren’t sure if the weather will allow us to reach our final destination. Somehow that makes us happy. We are more interested in the journey along the way and the adventures it will bring. We could have planned this trip in the Summer when the roads are clear and there isn’t a threat of snow or ice, but we didn’t. Without a sense of the unknown it’s not truly an adventure, is it?
Our mission this trip is to seek out new adventures, as we continue to grow our blog community. We want to share the thrill of traveling and there is no better way to do that than by telling it as it happens. We invite everyone to follow along on our adventures as they unfold. Our rambling path will first take us North to Chicago then West to enjoy sites such as Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Park. From there we will cross the border into Canada and follow a path along the East of the Rockies to Alaska and hopefully to the city of Dead Horse. Our return trip should take us West of the Rockies and into Vancouver. Where will we go from there? Not sure yet :-) We did say our itinerary was loose, didn’t we? We will be updating the blog from the road side, hotels, and maybe a few coffee shops along the way. Our plan is to give frequent updates about where we’ve been and where we are headed. We want to share the whole travel experience with you, so we will be sharing more than just great destinations and attractions. We will also share our feelings and challenges along the way.
For us a road trip is about so much more that just a means to arrive at a destination, hopefully it is for you too!
See you from the road and keep rambling!
We would love to hear from you in the comments below. Share your idea with us for things to do along the way!
Happy trails! I look forward to reading more!
Good luck on your trip! Let’s hope you won’t have any problems with snow and ice…but make sure you have a shovel with you.
We’re pretty sure we are going to hit some snow along the way. We are just hoping it’s the light and fun snow, and not the blizzard kind! It’s funny that you mention the shovel, we actually went out and bought one just before we left on this trip :-)
Hey,
This is going to sound weird, but as a kid I used to love blizzards growing up in MN. They were kind of exciting. First of all it possibly meant a, “snow day,” no school. I also liked being snowed in, kind of cozy. Also all that snow was so fun to play in. One year we had so much snow that it drifted up to the eaves of the roofs of the lower farm sheds and we climbed up to the top of the roof and slid down to the bottom. It was fun so roll with it!
Have fun you two! Drive carefully, espeically in a town called “Dead Horse.”
We will be! It’s already started to snow in some places so we’ll how the roads look the further north we go.
Best of luck on your trip!
Keep safe! Have fun.!
This sounds like a great trip & I will be following you two.Drive safe & enjoy the adventure.
