No one goes on holiday thinking that something bad could happen, but it might. While relaxation and enjoyment should always be your main priority whilst on vacation, it’s also important to be aware of the possible dangers.
While many of us are away of the obvious situations in which accidents can happen, there are some that are less obvious. Thankfully, First4Lawyers have conducted a survey with over 1500 holiday-goers taking a look at the most common places injuries occur…
At a nightclub, restaurant, bar…
When excess is the aim of the evening, accidents can always follow. What’s most surprising is that only 3.4% of people reported being injured here considering the risk of food poisoning and broken glass.

On a cruise ship…
Cruise ships are brilliant for a worry-free holiday, but that doesn’t mean accidents done happen. Over 3.4% of people reported injury on cruise ships, which, given the amount of people living in such a small place, is unsurprising. Watch out for stomach bugs alongside wet floors.
In a supermarket…
You might think a trip to the supermarket is as harmless as it is at home, but that might not necessarily be the case. Supermarkets abroad may not have the same health and safety measures as their British alternatives, so always be wary of animals and wet flooring.
In the hotel…
A pretty large 10.3% of people reported being injured in a hotel, but it might not be in ways you’d think. The majority of hotel injuries occur because the hotels have not provided the adequate protection needed around staircases, balconies, bathtubs, etc. Always talk to the hotel manager if you notice any problems in your room.

By the pool…
Finally, the most common place to be injured on holiday is, unsurprisingly, by the pool. Wet floors mixed with excited children and flip flops equals accidents waiting to happen. Always ensure yourself and any children follow the rules of the poolside according to the hotel in order to stay safe here!
