Ahhh Dublin, the crown jewel of the Emerald Isle. It’s definitely a must see city on any international travelers bucket list. Between Ireland’s deep cultural history and Dublin’s famous warm and welcoming personality there are many reasons to visit Ireland’s capital city. The people of Dublin are its greatest star though and know how to show any visiting guest a great time. With that in mind, here are four fun thing to do when you visit Dublin.
Guinness Storehouse
The Guinness store house goes well beyond our basic brewery tour and brew pub, this is an amazing and magical wonderland filled with seven stories of “Guinnessy” Goodness! There are several floors dedicated to the brewing process and the history of Guinness Beer and an entire floor dedicated to historical Guinness advertising. The coolest thing though has to be the bar on the seventh floor where you can have yourself a free pint of the good stuff while looking out over the city of Dublin.
Dublin Zoo
Considered to be one of Ireland’s biggest tourist attractions the Dublin Zoo is a must see for any animal loving visitor to the city. Ireland’s largest zoo opened its doors in Dublin way back in 1840. The Zoo covers over 60 acres of land and is home to over 400 animals that roam amongst the lakes, gardens, and habitats. The zoo houses a wide variety of animal species and just recently welcomed a baby tiger, lion, and baby rhino!
Dublin Castle
The Dublin Castle was originally built in 1204 A.D. and was home to King John, the first lord of Ireland. Since then it has remained continuously occupied until present day. While the Dublin Castle is no longer home to the Monarchy, it is primarily used as large government compound, has space for conferences and conventions, and still houses some rather prestigious state rooms. Large portions fo the castle are available for touring at no charge, and the state rooms can be visited via guided tour. For more info check out the official Dublin Castle site here.
National Leprechaun Museum
You can’t visit Dublin without doing at least a little investigating into the legend of the Leprechaun’s. Thankfully the National Leprechaun Museum of Dublin has done all the work for you. Billed as “The most fun you’ll have in Dublin” the museum features a guided history on the folklore of the leprechaun’s, rooms fille d with fun optical illusions, and a whole room filled with giant furniture that gives every visitor a chance to feel what it’s like to be leprechaun sized. With many more rooms and exhibits a trip to the National Leprechaun Museum is a solid day of fun for visitors of all ages.
