Us Ramblers recently made our way down to the Florida Keys. We were visiting one of Zoe’s favorite friend’s, Savannah. What do you do when you are visiting friends in the Keys? You go to the beach of course :) ! Anne’s Beach is a quaint dog-friendly beach in the Florida Keys. It made for the perfect day for the girls to get their paws wet and get some playtime in the soft sand.
Anne’s Beach is located at Lower Matecumbe Key in Florida. This Islamorada beach is wonderfully dog-friendly. The beach was named after local environmentalist Anne Eaton. The beach is found around mile marker 73 and a half. Be on the lookout for the little sign for the beach. The area is very shallow and perfect for pets. There are two different parking lots about 1/4 mile apart and picnic tables along the beautiful boardwalk. There are also showers and bathrooms on premises and my favorite part, it’s all free!
We took Zoe and her friend Savannah for a swim. We walked them out into the water. It is pretty shallow for a long time so it was perfect for these two pups to play and not worry about tides and depths.
Make sure to pack lots of fresh drinking water for your pets. They will be certain to try to drink some sea water and you will need to rehydrate them after a day of playing in the salt and sun.
Make sure to pay attention to everyone’s behaviors when playing in the water. Pets can exert a lot of energy wading through the water and can tire easily.
Take your doggies out to Anne’s Beach and have a ball. Zoe and Savannah had a great time and slept like babies that night.

Looks like Zoe and Savannah had a fun day at the beach!
People can tire easily too =P
Love that line :)
I remember back when I had a golden retriever. Dogs love the water! I think that’s one of the idiocratic things about modern society, all these fraking rules regarding “pet friendly”.
WTF? Dogs, just as any other creature on the planet, have just as much of a right to the planet’s natural resources as everyone else. Ridiculous!
Thanks for sharing :)
What a great resource for dog owners – locals and travellers alike!
Love this! Our dog, Emma, absolutely loves to swim. She was a total water rat when we lived in Phoenix and had a pool. Now, she loves going to the beach and has a list of her favorite dog friendly beaches around Europe!
That’s awesome. Zoe used to hate the water when che was younger. This is the first time she’s ever actually gone swimming, and she’s 11 years old. Not sure what changed her mind, but she seemed to really like it.
