Weird. Wacky. Eccentric. Wonderful. Junky. All of these words have been used to describe the Abita Mystery House (aka the UCM Museum) in the Louisiana North Shore community of Abita Springs. After spending some time there I can assure you that all of them are 100% accurate. Prior to our arrival in the area we heard musings about this roadside attraction that is self-described as “Louisiana’s Most Eccentric Atttraction” but we absolutely weren’t prepared for what awaited us behind it’s bright red door…

Flying High at the National Soaring Museum on Harris Hill in Elmira, NY

For aviation enthusiasts the words Harris Hill and soaring have long been synonymous. That’s because the small city of Elmira, NY is home to the one of the country’s largest manufacturers of gliders. On top of that, Harris Hill has also been the site of countless national and international soaring competitions. Being lovers of all things aviation, we decided to see what soaring was all about with a visit to the National Soaring Museum and Harris Hill Soaring in Elmira, NY.

Getting Nerdy at the International Motor Racing Research Center Watkins Glen, NY

The city has gone from hosting the towns first road race back in 1948 to hosting global events at the Watkins Glen International Speedway. Ahh Fall. It’s one of our most enjoyable times of year. The trees are ablaze with incredible colors, there’s a cool crisp bite to the air, and everything is suddenly available in the seemingly unescapable flavor of Pumpkin Spice. Perhaps our favorite part of the season though, is that communities nationwide come together with festivals celebrating the bountiful harvest.
