If you are looking for some great nightlife while visiting the Vancouver, BC area you can’t miss the Gastown District. It’s filled with some neat architecture, bars, shops, and of course swanky restaurants. When we visited the area last fall, we were looking for somewhere to enjoy some good hearty pub food, and sip on some fine brews. After asking around, and doing some research, it turns out the Steamworks Brew Pub in Vancouver’s Gastown District was just what we were looking for.

Driving the Alaska Canada Highway – Guide & Road Trip Planner
If you’re planning on taking a drive to Alaska there are only a couple direct driving routes that will take you there. You can either drive the Cassiar Highway, which is a small mostly rural route, or drive the Alaska Canada Highway (aka the Al-Can), which is a slightly larger, slightly less rural route. :-) No matter which way you go you’ll be guaranteed two things: several days of non-stop driving, and miles of wide open spaces. Since we had the opportunity to make the drive last fall we decided to put together this handy dandy guide and road trip planner for driving the Alaska-Canada Highway.
Banff National Park – Love at first hike!
Banff National Park was our first experience with the Canadian wilderness, and the cause of our crush on Canada. There’s something about its majestic mountains and pristine lakes that make our hearts go pitter patter and our stomachs gently flutter. No other part of the Canadian wilderness can quite compare to the grandeur of Banff. That’s the interesting thing about first loves though, they incite a deep emotional reaction at the very thought of them, but they also become the gold standard from that point on. We fell in love with Banff National Park the moment we stepped on that first trail, turned, and gazed out over Lake Minewanka. One could even say, when it comes to us and Banff it was love at first hike!
Meat, Fondue, and Swingers? Grizzly House in Banff has it all!
When we visited Banff, AB last fall, we quickly fell in love with the little ski town. What’s not to like? It’s a little ski hamlet with lots of quirky and fun shops and restaurants tucked into the middle of a national park. While sightseeing, we came across a little spot to eat that was well recommended and looked right up our alley! Who wouldn’t want to eat at a place called Grizzly House? On top of the cool name and design, this place offered a great selection of exotic meats and had an awesome laid back feel that turned out to be much more than we expected. Win! We had a great meal and wanted to share our review of Grizzly House in Banff, so you too can enjoy this unique dining experience.
Kluane Lake a Natural Wonder of the Yukon – A Photo Essay
We had the pleasure of driving past the astounding Kluane Lake twice while on our journey from Florida to Alaska. We first drove past Kluane Lake (the proper order of the name) on the way up to Tok, Alaska during a mild snow storm. We then drove past the lake a second time on a beautiful , clear day on our way back out of Alaska. It was a little hard to believe that it was the same lake on the same stretch of road. Both times we found the lake absolutely stunning, and can see why it is a major attraction to visitors year round. I put together this short photo essay (with video) to share the natural wonder and beauty of Kluane Lake with the world.
