I woke up alone today for the first time in weeks. Kenin had to take the car in this morning for the 20k mile service. When we left Florida, we were still under 15k miles on the car. I have to admit, I didn’t really mind some time alone. It gave me a chance to plan out what I wanted to accomplish today since we didn’t have a lot of traveling to do. I found an interesting article on The Huff Post about where you could go to see seals in California. There is a city called Moss Landing where you can sometimes catch a glimpse of seals. I have always wanted to see them in their natural habitat and I knew it was going to be dicey but it wanted to try. It was a good hour off our route, but what’s a road trip without a detour? Many people go out to the beaches and it is pretty much a coin toss as to if you will see seals or not. Continue reading

Road Trip to San Francisco, CA – Diary Day 15
We visited San Francisco today and I must say our general feeling about the whole city was pretty much, meh. To be fair the city seems like a beautiful place and I’ve had many friends tell me it’s a great place to visit. I think it was mostly our fault we didn’t enjoy ourselves. Our “do everything spontaneously” plan seems to have backfired on us. Normally when we visit a major city we drive in, tap into the city’s vibe and energy wave, and then just wander around hanging out. Seems like today, however, the force wasn’t with us. Today was the half way point on our trip and we hadn’t come to any conclusion about our plans for the future. It was weighing on us both heavily. Continue reading
Road Trip from Grants Pass, OR to Oakland, CA – Diary Day 14
We started our day off groggy again, but much better rested than the last time we pulled an overnighter. This time we slept in an actual official rest area as opposed to a truckers pull over. We were very eager to get going despite the fact that it was just after 6:00 AM. You see, we had another date with the Pacific Coast and more importantly we were going to finally get to see the redwoods. We’ve wanted to see the redwoods for countless years, but never had the occasion. Now we had all day to cover just 428 miles so we could take our time and see the giants in person. We cranked up our Seattle inspired grunge playlist to get our blood going and sped on our merry way.
