Weird. Wacky. Eccentric. Wonderful. Junky. All of these words have been used to describe the Abita Mystery House (aka the UCM Museum) in the Louisiana North Shore community of Abita Springs. After spending some time there I can assure you that all of them are 100% accurate. Prior to our arrival in the area we heard musings about this roadside attraction that is self-described as “Louisiana’s Most Eccentric Atttraction” but we absolutely weren’t prepared for what awaited us behind it’s bright red door…

Louisiana Cuisine – Breaking Down Preconceived Notions
Louisiana cuisine, it’s not just gumbo and Po’ boys. French, Italian, German, African-American and American-Indian influences run deep in the food scene of the state. Well-seasoned grub, spiced with a lil’ bayou heat and a pinch of “ain’t nobody’s cooking better than mine” attitude makes Louisiana a go-to state for some of the best food I have ever put in my mouth.
The Splendid Splendor Farms of Bush, LA
On our last visit to Louisiana we did something we never ever do…we ventured out of New Orleans! If you are anything like us, the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Louisiana is Bourbon Street. Well, we decided we needed to branch out and see what the rest of the state had to offer. We decided to Ramble On through Louisiana and our first stop was a little town called Bush. Our stay here was at a wonderful pet-friendly B&B called Splendor Farms.
