Ahh Fall. It’s one of our most enjoyable times of year. The trees are ablaze with incredible colors, there’s a cool crisp bite to the air, and everything is suddenly available in the seemingly unescapable flavor of Pumpkin Spice. Perhaps our favorite part of the season though, is that communities nationwide come together with festivals celebrating the bountiful harvest. Of course here in West Virginia they celebrate the fall just a little bit differently: with a Road Kill Cook- Off. Yes you read that correctly, I said Road Kill Cook-Off. Join us as as we explore the local culture at this year’s West Virginia Roadkill Cook-off & Autumn Harvest Festival and see what makes Pocahontas County so special.
Dinosaur BBQ restaurant in Syracuse is a well-known biker bar that serves great grub and the beer flows freely. My kind of place. We didn’t ride over here (we took the much more boring form of transportation also known as walking), but we did come across too many motorcycles to count parked all around the place. Upon first inspection, this quirky restaurant seemed very out of place for Syracuse, but after crossing the front lines and walking in the door, I could see why people, locals and visitors alike, flock here for a fun time and great barbecue.
The American South has come to the craft beer game a little late, but what they lack in variety they seem to make up with in quality and quantity. This is perhaps most true in the state of Louisiana. In order to call attention to their budding brewery business, Louisiana decided to do something special and put together the Louisiana Brewery Trail. When we heard that such a beast existed, there was only one thing that came to mind: ROAD TRIP!! See what breweries are a must-visit, and where you should stop if you are planning on Road Tripping the Louisiana Brewery Trail.
Waking up in Syracuse, NY I had one thing and one thing only on my mind…breakfast! After a night of beer tasting and exploring the city I woke up famished. Every person in Syracuse seemed to have the same recommendation for a good hearty hangover cure, and that was Funk N Waffles. I was a bit skeptical about this, waffles are not exactly my favorite food, but I am a stickler for following my own advice. Locals know best. With my stomach on empty I headed out to see what all the fuss was about.
