We were recently given the opportunity to visit the Banner Elk Winery & Villa in the North Carolina High Country. I’ll be the first one to say that I had no idea that wine was even made in North Carolina, so I did a little research. It turns out that the Banner Elk Winery was the first commercial winery in the area, and that now, there is a burgeoning wine industry in the state. After seeing that I decided there was no way we could pass up the opportunity to sip wine and enjoy the natural beauty of North Carolina’s High Country.

Visiting The Flintstones Bedrock City AZ, A Road Trip Back in Time!
While on our way to the Grand Canyon, we made a planned stop in the small junction town of Williams, Arizona where State Rt 64 & Hwy 180 intersect. Flintstones Bedrock City was mentioned to us by a very good friend and we valued his recommendation (and I really loved the cartoon growing up). Kenin and I set off very early in the morning to get there and check out the “Bedrock City”. We were not disappointed and just had to share it with the world!
Photos from the Street Painting Festival of Lake Worth, FL
For the last 20 Years the city of Lake Worth, Fl has held an annual Street Painting Festival. We had an awesome time at the festival and wanted to share some pictures of the event. It’s truly fascinating to see what emerges on the street “canvas” in less than 48 hours using just chalk. Sadly there is no way to preserve the images and they only last until the next rain.
Taking your home state for granted – Florida, not just Beaches and Theme Parks
I have spent most of my life in Florida, but I have to admit that after a while, it dulls your views on all this great state has to offer. Florida is not just beaches and theme parks (though we do have many of both)! I have lived all over Florida and vacationed through most of it. I know that I am not the only one that has awoken on a Saturday morning to think “I’m bored! What’s there to do in this town?” After living somewhere for years, it is very easy to start taking it for granted. Here are a list of some of the more exotic things to do in Florida whether looking for just a few days of fun or weeks worth of adventures.
A Mooseberry Inn – The Bed and Breakfast that converted me :)
A Mooseberry Inn in Tok, Alaska was the first bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in. Kenin and I traveled for many years and stayed in everything from a tent to the Ritz Carlton. Somehow, we managed to completely avoid B&Bs altogether. We always thought the idea of a B&B was a little odd. This is the bed and breakfast that converted me.
