We had some fun gambling our way through Nevada and seeing the beautiful sights in Arizona and New Mexico, but it was time for that bitter sweet moment on every road trip, heading home! Of course home for us was still another 2163 miles away :-) We took a rambling route across New Mexico, through Roswell, then to San Antonio to see family for the Turkey Consumption Fest we Americans call Thanksgiving. Once that was over with, and we could once again fasten our pants, we cut through New Orleans to drink off the Family Induced Stress Syndrome and then finally made it to our home in the Miami area.

Restaurant Review: Texas Pride BBQ Best in San Antonio, TX
If you ever find yourself in San Antonio and are looking for real mesquite smoked barbecue, there is one place that should be on the top of your list: Texas Pride BBQ. It’s arguably the best barbecue restaurant in San Antonio, TX. Don’t just take my word for it, they’ve won a bunch of awards and have even been featured on Guy Fieri’s Tripple-D! We checked it out while on our last road trip through Texas, and just had to to tell ya’ll about it!
Road Trip Diary Days 29 & 30 San Antonio to New Orleans
Leaving San Antonio was a bit heart-breaking for us. After spending 4 days with Mike, Blythe and Prince Leon, it was very hard to leave. I was pretty shocked at how quickly my nephew became the center of our long weekend and was sad to leave him. It really helps that we will see him again in a few days, but more on that later. The upside to the day was the fact that by this evening we’d be enjoying food and drink in New Orleans.
Road Trip Diary Days 25-28 Everything IS Bigger in Texas
Have I ever mentioned that there is one piece of interstate in the country that I absolutely despise? I do everything I can to avoid I-10 through Texas. I plotted our whole trip around avoiding it. Thanks to Lauren’s reroute to Vegas the other day, this is now the fastest way to San Antonio. We’re booking it there so we can see my brother Mike, his wife Blythe, and my nephew “Prince” Leon. I had to suffer 560 miles of the longest, straightest, flattest, hottest stretch of road to get there, but it was worth the trade off. In return for my suffering we had 4 more days of fun with family and spoiling my nephew rotten. As a bonus we got to see the Alamo and try out some amazing restaurants!
Road Trip from Las Vegas to El Paso Diary Day 24
750 miles is a daunting amount to cover in a day, but alas, we have to get to El Paso tonight. Our route plan is taking us along Highway 93 and I-10 through Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and finally Texas. Kenin and I want to get to San Antonio by the weekend to see his other brother, Mike. This means we have to cover over 1250 miles in two days. Getting a very early start, we pack up and say goodbye as we move along on our road trip from Las Vegas to El Paso. Continue reading
