Down home cooking is something that Louisiana is incredibly well-known for, as is sugary sweet Southern charm. On our visit to the Where Y’at Diner in Mandeville we were served up with a healthy dose of both. The owner of this adorable diner, Liz Munson, puts her heart and soul into everything that goes on inside this brightly colored building. Her effervescing personality shines through in everything from the staff to the food to the inspirational decor. She went from waitressing for others for 15-years to opening up her own restaurant and became an overnight success. We woke up ready for a great brunch and now we know Where Y’at in Mandeville is definitely where it’s at.

Carnivorous Bikers and Bountiful Beer at Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse, NY
Dinosaur BBQ restaurant in Syracuse is a well-known biker bar that serves great grub and the beer flows freely. My kind of place. We didn’t ride over here (we took the much more boring form of transportation also known as walking), but we did come across too many motorcycles to count parked all around the place. Upon first inspection, this quirky restaurant seemed very out of place for Syracuse, but after crossing the front lines and walking in the door, I could see why people, locals and visitors alike, flock here for a fun time and great barbecue.
Funk N Waffles – Best Breakfast in Syracuse, NY
Waking up in Syracuse, NY I had one thing and one thing only on my mind…breakfast! After a night of beer tasting and exploring the city I woke up famished. Every person in Syracuse seemed to have the same recommendation for a good hearty hangover cure, and that was Funk N Waffles. I was a bit skeptical about this, waffles are not exactly my favorite food, but I am a stickler for following my own advice. Locals know best. With my stomach on empty I headed out to see what all the fuss was about.
