If you’re planning on taking a drive to Alaska there are only a couple direct driving routes that will take you there. You can either drive the Cassiar Highway, which is a small mostly rural route, or drive the Alaska Canada Highway (aka the Al-Can), which is a slightly larger, slightly less rural route. :-) No matter which way you go you’ll be guaranteed two things: several days of non-stop driving, and miles of wide open spaces. Since we had the opportunity to make the drive last fall we decided to put together this handy dandy guide and road trip planner for driving the Alaska-Canada Highway.

Glacier National Park Road Trip Planner & Photo Essay
When looking for places to visit while road tripping, we often look for somewhere that is going to be a great scenic drive, or a location that offers lots of hiking and other natural activities. Occasionally though we get lucky and find a place that offers fantastic drives and the opportunity to really get in touch with Mother Nature. Glacier National Park happens to be one of those places. If you are planning a road trip anywhere near Northern Montana, make sure to include Glacier National Park in your itinerary. It’s one of the most unique National Parks in the US and easily sits near the top of my list of favorites.
Cassiar Highway Road Trip Planner: Drive Beautiful BC
Most Americans that make the long drive through Canada to Alaska use the Al-Can Highway going both directions, to me that’s just plain crazy talk. If you’re going to take a long road trip like that, the least you can do is mix it up a bit!
When we took our road trip from Florida to Alaska we made sure to find an alternate route back, and in doing so enjoyed some of the finest scenery one could ask for. We took the lesser known Cassiar Highway and had the opportunity to drive through beautiful British Columbia.

Route 66 means a lot of things to a lot of different people in America. In fact, It’s probably one of America’s most written about roads and has become it’s own cultural icon of sorts. To date, there’s been a TV show and songs written about it, in addition to tons of memorabilia that ranges from commemorative maps to reproduction street signs. Road Trip Planner for Mount Rushmore, Badlands and Custer Park, SD
Visiting Mount Rushmore is on the top of many peoples “must-do” list when they are in the Rapid City, South Dakota area. Honestly though, while beautiful to look at, it’s not an attraction that can captivate your attention for an entire day. The good news is that there are lots of lovely sites to visit in the Black Hills area of South Dakota.
