#FriFotos #Ice and #Snow were this week’s two topics. Considering we live in Florida, and we lack both, we decided to share some of our views from an Alaskan cruise we took a few years ago. Enjoy!
While the ship was navigating the inside passage they took the opportunity to test some of their rescue boats. It was really neat to watch them navigate through the huge chunks of ice floating in the sea.
At some points the water was so clear you could really get the chance to see just how huge the ice chunks really were. This chunk was about the same size of a VW Beetle!
One of the coolest adventures we took while on the cruise was a helicopter tour of the ice fields and glaciers. My favorite part had to be the fact that the chopper actually landed on one of the glaciers and allowed us to get out and walk around on it. Even though it looks like dirt, all the black stuff is actually ice covered in a thin layer of dirty snow.
The cruise also gave us the opportunity to sit out on a veranda and watch nature go by. This was a common view for the few days while the ship was in Alaska’s inside passage. We were surrounded by snow capped mountains on both sides and lots of ice in the water.
Oh I’d love to go on an Alaskan cruise! Definitely on my bucket list. Especially at the moment when Australia is recording some of our hottest days on record!!
Tracey we have sailed on many cruises and nothing has even come close to how awesome Alaska was …yet :)
Alaska definitely is on my bucket list, even moved up higher now after having seen this amazing photos.
Alaska was a life changer for us. Being from Florida and the Caribbean the terrain is so exotic and mind blowing.
The color of that ice is amazing! Reminds us of our trip to Patagonia.
Love the pic’s. We just booked our Alaskan cruise for this Fall yesterday. Can’t wait!
If you’ve never been up there it will blow your mind!
