To me there is something mystical about taking a simple walk in the woods. No matter where you are in the world, the moment you step out on the trail, you are immediately transported to a different universe. All your “civilized” problems seem to melt away and are instead replaced with an appreciation for the simple beauty of the world around you. It’s a great way to clear the mind and it’s also cathartic for the soul. While in the Finger Lakes Region of NY, we found out that the Watkins Glen Gorge was the perfect place to get out and unwind.

My Favorite Ramblin’ Road Trip featuring Monika Fuchs
Two years ago my husband Petar and I decided to finally fulfill one of our dreams and go on a road trip through Newfoundland. Up to then we had often travelled through Canada, but somehow never made it to the island on the East Coast. This time, however, we decided to spend ten days on “The Rock”, how the Newfies lovingly call their homeland. And it was an excellent decision.
Leatherback Turtles of Trinidad – Conservation of a Prehistoric Giant
As a child, my parents took me to see the leatherback turtles on Matura beach in my homeland of Trinidad. It was an experience that has traveled with me through all my years. I would recant my adventures to my husband over and over again about the times when I was a wee little thing running along the beach with my older brother stopping to watch these majestic creatures come ashore to lay their eggs at night.
“Strong and Free” at the Wild Rose Brewery in Calgary, AB – #YYC
It’s not often that you find a craft brewery that’s proud to tell you that you can’t have their beer. That’s exactly what you’ll find though when you visit the Wild Rose Brewery in Calgary, Alberta. If you ask them, they’ll tell you that they started their craft brewery with the single mission of freeing themselves from “the tyranny of boring beer”. If you ask me, they’ve succeeded. The only catch is, you have to be in Alberta to get it.
