I have to be honest, as an American, when I think of Canada, the contributions of their military to the global peace effort aren’t the first thing that comes to mind. In the US, we do a pretty good job of honoring our soldiers and highlighting their acts of valiance, but when you travel over the border and visit our Neighbors to the North it’s a bit of a different story. I mean, I always knew that Canada had an active standing military, I just didn’t know all that much about them or their rich history. All that changed however, after we spent our day at the Military Museums in Calgary, AB.
Why Everyone Should Visit Midtown Scholar Bookstore in Harrisburg, PA
When visiting Harrisburg, PA, several locals recommended we check out the Midtown Scholar Bookstore. We love reading and bookstores are somewhere Kenin and I both use for solitary recreation. All this being said, I wasn’t sure why such a huge deal was being made about this place. Most bookstores are pretty similar, books, comfy chairs, maybe a cafe to grab a cup of coffee. What would set Midtown Scholar Bookstore so far apart that it would be recommended to “tourists” like us?
My Favorite Ramblin’ Road Trip Featuring Jim Cheney
I’m not going to lie: I HATE driving my car. Whether it’s around the corner to the store or hours of driving to a fun destination, I just really, really don’t like driving. So, for me, the perfect road trip involves me not having to drive.
Photo Essay of the Maligne Canyon Icewalk in Jasper National Park
Winter seems to have the ability to completely change the face of any landscape it touches. Rolling prairies teeming with wildlife become vast frozen tundras, trees become bare, and lakes become blocks of solid ice. When you come from a place that’s primarily warm this transformation can make you feel like you’re on a completely different planet. That’s exactly what it felt like when I visited Jasper National Park in Canada and took a Maligne Canyon icewalk. The views were completely out of this world.
Wildlife Tour of Jasper National Park in Alberta
Jasper is a small town in the Canadian Rockies. It’s part of the Jasper National Park so the town’s population can never exceed 5000 humans residents at any given time. This being said, the town and it’s surrounding areas are teaming with wildlife, sometimes you can even catch a critter just wandering through town. If you are an animal lover, Jasper is the perfect spot for a wildlife tour.
