When I found out that the #FriFotos theme this week was #Electric, the first thing I did was think of one of my favorite cities, Vegas! Wait, no, that’s a lie. The first thing I really did was bounce in my chair and sing a horrible rendition of the Electric Boogie. You know some say it’s mystic, you can’t resist it, you can’t do without it, It’s ELECTRIC BOOGIE, WOOGIE, WOOGIE!… sorry, I couldn’t contain myself. I know it’s supposed to be #FriFotos, but why can’t it be #FriKaraoke too? Is that a thing? If not someone should make it a thing, it has a nice ring to it doesn’t it? #FriKaraoke, yeah that’s nice! Oh well I digress, now I’ve rambled on about the darned song I’ve been singing in my head since last Tuesday instead of talking about how cool these #electric (boogie woogie, woogie) photos are. Enough of my incessant rambling and on to the pictures!
Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, FL – A Sanctuary for the Abused, Abandoned, and Saved
Every once in a while, here at TheConstantRambler, we take a tour somewhere and leave that place a changed person. The most recent example of this was the Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida. We entered the Big Cat Rescue expecting to find something like a zoo; smallish pens, animals on display, and a focus on giving visitors a big bang for their buck. We left the Big Cat Rescue feeling like we had just left a monastery where we were intruding on the sanctuary created for these beautiful felines. The owners and staff have done an amazing job putting together a place where abused, abandoned, and injured big cats can recover and live out their lives in peace and relative solitude.
Laxmi Narayan (Birla Mandir) Hindu Temple, New Delhi – A Photo Essay
India is a land filled with multiple religions and a healthy dose of mysticism and it’s capitol is a melting pot where they all run across each other. Because of this, New Delhi is filled with Churches, Temples, Mosques, and Gurudwalla’s representing India’s wide range of religious beliefs. However, because Hinduism is still the countries’ largest religion, you’ll find many Hindu temples (from tiny single rooms to palace sized compounds) dedicated to the vast number of gods and deities they worship. There is one Hindu temple that stood out to me though, not just for it’s beautiful architecture but because it was built with a core principle in mind that was quite radical for it’s time. The Laxmi Narayan (Birla Mandir) in Delhi is the only temple in India you’ll find that was inaugurated by Ghandi for one reason, it’s open to every caste level and was not restricted to only Hindus.
#FriFotos – # RoomWithAView
This week’s #Frifotos is #RoomWithAView. We travel frequently and stay in all different types of rooms. Most of them have spectacular views. This is our view from our hotel room at Pike’s Waterfront Lodge in Fairbanks, Alaska.
