Las Vegas is synonymous with one word; excess. Whether it’s drinking, gambling, rabble-rousing, or eating Vegas is the place to go if you want too much of something. The last time we found ourselves in America’s City of Sin we went out looking for somewhere to satisfy one of our basest primal urges, eating. Now we weren’t looking for some “all you can stuff yourself until you unbutton your pants so you can breathe” buffet where quantity is king and quality is a word they’ve never heard of. We wanted to find something different. We wanted quality whole food prepared in a unique way. We found just what the doctor ordered when we stepped into Hash House A Go Go. Take a look at our review to see why Hash House should be on your Vegas “to do” list!

When we visited Banff, AB last fall, we quickly fell in love with the little ski town. What’s not to like? It’s a little ski hamlet with lots of quirky and fun shops and restaurants tucked into the middle of a national park. While sightseeing, we came across a little spot to eat that was well recommended and looked right up our alley! Who wouldn’t want to eat at a place called Grizzly House? On top of the cool name and design, this place offered a great selection of exotic meats and had an awesome laid back feel that turned out to be much more than we expected. Win! We had a great meal and wanted to share our review of Grizzly House in Banff, so you too can enjoy this unique dining experience.
Voodoo Doughnuts, Portland: America’s Best Doughnut?
There are a lot of good doughnuts out there, trust me, I’ve eaten my fair share of them. When it comes to “everyday donuts”, you have your classics like Dunkin’, Entenmann’s, and the quintessential purveyor of hot and fresh melty delights, Krispy Kreme. Occasionally though you want something more, something special. You go out looking for the doughnut that leaves you wondering whether you just ate a doughnut at all or something entirely different. You have to seek out that special shop that comes along and decides to push the envelope. I’ve found that shop. Heck in this case they’ve taken the old envelope, shredded it, burned it, and then scattered the ashes. If you haven’t tried a Voodoo Doughnut yet, you need to skiddaddle over to Portland, find the original location, and eat one of America’s Best Doughnuts RIGHT NOW!

There’s no doubt in any travelers mind that one of the best ways to try out a new culture is to sample their food. The islands of Trinidad and Tobago offer some of the most unusual food blends in the Carribbean due to the island’s mixture of African, Indian, British, Chinese, and even Spanish influences. Interestingly, even though the islands’ primary language is English, many of the foods have foreign names dating back to their roots. This can make it quite confusing to a traveler that wants to try something new. If you are planning a trip to Trinidad take a look at this handy guide to some of the best Trinidad street food before your journey.

After spending weeks in the remote portions of Canada and Alaska we both welcomed a few days of city life. Don’t get me wrong, we both love nature and all, but we hadn’t been to a major city in weeks! We decided to solve this road trip dilema by visiting the Pacific Northwest. We spent a few days in Vancouver, BC before we left Canada and made our way to Portland, OR. We spent a total of 4-nights in the area and had a wonderful time exploring two new cities and experiencing the city life.
