750 miles is a daunting amount to cover in a day, but alas, we have to get to El Paso tonight. Our route plan is taking us along Highway 93 and I-10 through Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and finally Texas. Kenin and I want to get to San Antonio by the weekend to see his other brother, Mike. This means we have to cover over 1250 miles in two days. Getting a very early start, we pack up and say goodbye as we move along on our road trip from Las Vegas to El Paso. Continue reading

What Happens in Las Vegas – Road Trip Diary Day 23
Kenin and I booked an extra night in Las Vegas so that we could stay and play all day. There’s just something about the outrageous brashness that makes the city relaxing to us. We had an early start, which was surprising since we had such a late night. We took the poochies for an extra long walk , had breakfast at the hotel, then set off to explore more of the city. Here’s what our day in Vegas looked like. You know what they say: What Happens in Las Vegas, Doesn’t Always Stay in Las Vegas :-).
Road Trip Diary Day 22 Los Angeles to Las Vegas
We left the hotel this morning and headed out for Sedona, AZ. Kenin was very excited because we were going to drive to the Grand Canyon. Neither of us have ever seen it, and it’s on both of our bucket lists, so this was going to be a real adventure. We had been to Scottsdale earlier this year, and already missed one chance to see it. Who knew our road trip would end up being from Los Angeles to Las Vegas instead?
Road Trip Diary Days 18- 21 What to do in LA
When we left our hotel in Fresno we knew we were headed for a good time at our next destination. We were going to see my brother, Brant, who’s lived in LA for quite some time, and has been known to party in 4 Continents. What we didn’t know is that by the end of the 4 days we would have had drinks in a warehouse turned into a night club, a meal at a swanky beach-front steakhouse, nursed 2 hangovers, and attend a Space Party. We managed to do all this while also getting in quality time with the family and some time to ourselves. Of course none of these things were planned in advance, that’s just how it goes with us ramblers. We got in the car that morning listening to more Silversun Pickups to keep us company (they always remind Lauren of Brant) and drove to LA .
Road Trip from Oakland CA to Fresno CA – Diary Day 16
I woke up alone today for the first time in weeks. Kenin had to take the car in this morning for the 20k mile service. When we left Florida, we were still under 15k miles on the car. I have to admit, I didn’t really mind some time alone. It gave me a chance to plan out what I wanted to accomplish today since we didn’t have a lot of traveling to do. I found an interesting article on The Huff Post about where you could go to see seals in California. There is a city called Moss Landing where you can sometimes catch a glimpse of seals. I have always wanted to see them in their natural habitat and I knew it was going to be dicey but it wanted to try. It was a good hour off our route, but what’s a road trip without a detour? Many people go out to the beaches and it is pretty much a coin toss as to if you will see seals or not. Continue reading
