I have grown to love #FriFotos. I get to dig through years of memories to find the week’s chosen theme in my thousands of photos. This week the theme is Roadtrips. You can understand why I would be elated. It was as if the gods of #Frifotos were dreaming of me when they woke up and announced the theme for the week. Without further ado, here are some of our favorite roadtrip photos. :D

Cassiar Highway Road Trip Planner: Drive Beautiful BC
Most Americans that make the long drive through Canada to Alaska use the Al-Can Highway going both directions, to me that’s just plain crazy talk. If you’re going to take a long road trip like that, the least you can do is mix it up a bit!
When we took our road trip from Florida to Alaska we made sure to find an alternate route back, and in doing so enjoyed some of the finest scenery one could ask for. We took the lesser known Cassiar Highway and had the opportunity to drive through beautiful British Columbia.
Getting our Kicks on Route 66: A Road Trip Through Time.
Route 66 means a lot of things to a lot of different people in America. In fact, It’s probably one of America’s most written about roads and has become it’s own cultural icon of sorts. To date, there’s been a TV show and songs written about it, in addition to tons of memorabilia that ranges from commemorative maps to reproduction street signs. The road is even featured in Disney’s movie, Cars. There’s no question that Route 66 holds a special place in many American hearts. So what is it about Route 66 that makes it so special? Why is a Route 66 Road Trip so deeply entrenched in American Culture? We spent a day on America’s Mother Road last fall, and I can tell ya, it’s was a great peek into the days of yore.
Roadside Attractions: Hawthorne Ordnance Museum Nevada
If you find yourself taking a road trip from Reno to Las Vegas Nevada, there’s a neat roadside attraction in the small Nevada town of Hawthorne that’s worth a look. Located on HWY 95 about 2 hours south of Reno, Hawthorne, NV is home to the Hawthorne Army Depot and a great little roadside pitstop, The Hawthorne Ordnance Museum. Staffed by veterans and other local volunteers, the museum showcases decades of historical munitions, in addition to other pieces of military history. It’s a great stop off for anyone with a taste for military or weapons history.
Volkswagen Punch Buggy Game – Rambler Style!
When you road trip as often as we do this means that most of your life is spent in the car. Sometimes, that means up to 13 hours a day for us. What do we do with all that time? Just sitting in the car, staring out the window for hours on end can be enough to drive a person mad (not that some of us were all that sane to begin with :) ). You come up with creative road trip games to pass the minutes. The VW Punch Buggy Game is one of our favorites! Being huge Volkswagen fans, it is only natural that we would want to participate in this fun but sometimes brutal game. This is the “Constant Rambler” version of the popular road trip game.
