It’s a cliché, admittedly, but lying on white sugary-sand beaches below endless blue skies must be an almost universal daydream! While getting into the hills and feeling the breeze on your face is exhilarating, back down at sea-level, the tranquility of the ocean for guests staying nearby is incomparable.
Supposing you’re one of us that wouldn’t mind sipping a cocktail under a palapa, have you considered setting off on an adventure to discover Playa Mujeres and the Riviera Maya?
If you’re not familiar with this part of the world you’re missing out. The stunning view of the Caribbean Sea from a balcony or terrace will cheer anyone up, and even impress seasoned travelers. Moreover, the hospitality in this area of the world is second to none.
The Riviera Maya specifically is the most visited part of Mexico, with archaeological zones such as Tulum; an indigenous capital town called Coba that is home to a monumental pyramid, as well as Xcaret and Xel-Há, ecological sites where you can swim with dolphins or along underground rivers.
Maybe you’ve spent more time on road-trips or backpacking, but a reception like that which Beloved Playa Mujeres can offer might turn you into a lover of luxury. This resort offers boutique rooms, all of which are unique and different from anything you’ve ever stayed in before. Playa Mujeres is less frequented than Riviera Maya, and has the advantage of being close to the secluded Isla de las Mujeres, just a ferry-ride away over turquoise waters.
If you want something more rustic, the way to spend a night on a white sand beach is to look into Nueva Vida de Ramiro, on Tulum’s beautiful beaches. While the traditionally back-to-basics cabañas that made backpacking this way very popular are fewer and further between today, you can now get a bit more comfort but keep the outdoor shower, so you won’t lose touch with nature while sleeping on the beach.
This area of the world should be on everyone’s bucket list, whether you want to catch a tan or simply be in a warm enough climate to see basking whales and sea turtles (the sun is much less intense in November-December time) the Mexican Caribbean is an idyllic location.
Spend some time under the world-famous blue skies enjoying the beaches and local cuisine to relax and recharge while away on vacation.
